What's a CSA?
CSA stands for Community Supported Agriculture. This identity is crucial to Crop Swap LA’s mission and success.
The idea behind our CSA is that the risks inherent to agriculture are shared between Crop Swap LA™ and the CSA members. If the season is good, the members will receive more than planned, if the season is bad, they will receive less.
What's in a weekly
CSA Share?
A weekly CSA share will be a freshly harvested seasonal mix of: staples like potato varieties, onions, garlic, hearty greens, citrus and more, as well as seasonal specialty items which will vary throughout the year such as stone fruit, squash, melons and more. All produce is grown and harvested with care using organic growing practices between our Crop Swap LA managed grow sites, or grown by one of our trusted vetted local small farm partners who uphold the same level of care and expertise that we do.
Members will have the option to add on additional weekly items from other local small businesses such as baked goods, fresh juices, etc throughout the CSA season.
Our Model
Our CSA members sign up for a seasonal subscription (12 weeks) with the option of weekly pick up at our Degnan Microfarm (3753 Degnan Blvd) or local delivery, within a 2 mile radius of our farm.
Membership shares start at $35 per week, and payments can be made weekly, monthly, or for the whole season at once. Once a member signs on with us, they must stay for the duration of the season (12 weeks). Payments can be made electronically, and EBT is gladly accepted (please contact us for more details on EBT membership payments).
Our membership capacity is limited, so we encourage you to join our waitlist to be contacted when a space is available! Our Membership model prioritizes families with young children, foster and transition families, those enduring economic hardship, and individuals living with health or mobility challenges.
Each CSA subscription helps us continue to grow, to offer community programming, to support jobs in urban agriculture, and to donate fresh produce to those in need- our current donation partner is Good Shepherd Manor, a senior citizen center in Leimert Park. Seniors are one of the groups with the least access to fresh produce, and we are so proud to help fill that need where we can!
